Recommended Painting Process
A. Metal Surface
Step 1 – Surface Preparation
Remove rust, oil, grease, dust, dirt, old loose paint and other loose particles completely from the surface.

For previously painted surfaces, remove all loose or peeling coating and lightly sand the existing sound coating.

Step 2 – Cleaning
Ensure that the surface is clean, dry and free from dust and contaminants before painting.

Step 3 – Apply Red Oxide Primer
Apply 1 coat of Gaumaya Water Based Red Oxide Primer uniformly over the prepared metal surface.

Step 4 – Drying
Allow approximately 4–6 hours drying time, depending on temperature, humidity, ventilation and site conditions.

Step 5 – Sanding
After the primer has dried, lightly sand the surface if required to achieve a smooth finish. Remove all sanding dust before applying the topcoat.

Step 6 – First Coat of Enamel
Apply the first coat of Gaumaya Water Based Enamel Paint uniformly.
Allow approximately 4–6 hours between coats, subject to site conditions.

Step 7 – Second Coat
Apply the second coat of Gaumaya Water Based Enamel Paint for a smooth, uniform and durable finish.

Step 8 – Curing
Allow the painted surface to cure properly before subjecting it to heavy use.

Recommended complete curing period: up to 7 days.

B. Wooden Surface

Step 1 – Surface Preparation
Remove dust, dirt, grease, old loose paint and other contaminants.
Sand the wooden surface properly to obtain a smooth and even substrate.

Step 2 – Cleaning
Remove all sanding dust and ensure the surface is clean and dry.

Step 3 – Primer
Apply a suitable Gaumaya primer/sealer system recommended for wood before the enamel topcoat.

Step 4 – Drying & Sanding
Allow the primer to dry adequately. Lightly sand the surface where required and remove all dust.

Step 5 – First Coat
Apply the first coat of Gaumaya Water Based Enamel Paint uniformly.

Step 6 – Second Coat
After approximately 4–6 hours, or once the previous coat is adequately dry, apply the second coat.

Step 7 – Final Curing
Allow the coating to cure properly before heavy use or cleaning.

Dilution & Application with Brush / Roller
- Add 10–15% clean water as required for application.

Dilution & Application with Spray
Add 15–20% clean water as required for spray application.

> Dilution may vary depending on application method, equipment, weather conditions and surface condition. Avoid excessive dilution.

Painting Care & Maintenance
Proper maintenance will help retain the appearance and performance of the painted surface.

Regular Cleaning
Clean the surface periodically using a soft cloth, sponge or mild cleaning solution.

Avoid Abrasive Materials
Do not use abrasive powders, wire brushes or harsh scrubbing materials on the painted surface.

Protect From Prolonged Moisture
Avoid prolonged exposure to standing water or continuous moisture, particularly on wooden surfaces.

Touch-Up Damaged Areas
If the coating is scratched or damaged, clean and prepare the affected area before applying suitable primer and enamel for touch-up.

Rust Prevention
For metal surfaces, attend to scratches, exposed metal or early signs of rust promptly. Proper surface preparation and primer application are important for long-term protection.

Allow Proper Curing
Avoid heavy handling, washing or aggressive cleaning immediately after painting. Allow sufficient time for the coating to develop its final properties.

Important Application Guidelines
- Ideal surface temperature: 10°C–40°C.
- Do not apply during rain or on wet surfaces.
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry and properly prepared.
- Stir the paint thoroughly before use.
- Apply only when suitable weather and surface conditions prevail.
- Always carry out a small trial/application test where the surface condition or existing coating is uncertain.
- Actual drying time may vary with temperature, humidity, ventilation and film thickness.
