Surface Preparation & Application
Good painting starts with good surface preparation.
Before applying Gaumaya Pearl Shyne, make sure the surface is clean, dry, sound and free from dust, dirt, grease, loose particles and old flaky paint.
Recommended Procedure
1. Clean the Surface
Remove dirt, dust, chalk and loose particles. Scrape and clean the surface properly.
2. Prepare the Surface
For newly plastered surfaces, allow adequate curing and drying before painting.
3. Apply Primer
Apply one coat of Gaumaya Advanced Wall Primer. For better results, Gaumaya Basecoat may be used as recommended.
4. Apply Putty
Fill cracks, dents and surface imperfections with suitable acrylic wall putty. Allow adequate drying and sand the surface smoothly.
5. Apply Primer Again
Apply another coat of Gaumaya Advanced Wall Primer and allow it to dry properly. Sand lightly and remove dust before the final painting stage.
6. Apply Gaumaya Pearl Shyne
Mix approximately 150–250 ml of clean water with 1 litre of Gaumaya Pearl Shyne, depending on application requirements and shade.
Apply 2–3 coats, maintaining approximately 3–4 hours between coats, or as recommended depending on weather, surface and application conditions.
Painting Care – How to Keep Your Walls Beautiful
A beautiful paint finish depends not only on the quality of the paint but also on proper care after painting.
Do's
✓ Allow the paint to dry and cure properly before regular cleaning or heavy use.
✓ Keep the painted surface free from excessive moisture and water leakage.
✓ Clean walls gently using a soft, clean cloth or suitable soft cleaning material.
✓ Attend to dampness, seepage or leakage at the earliest.
✓ Use recommended cleaning methods and avoid excessive rubbing.
✓ Keep furniture and other objects slightly away from freshly painted walls during the curing period.
✓ For best results, always follow the recommended surface preparation and application procedure.
Don'ts
✗ Do not paint over damp, wet or leaking surfaces without first resolving the moisture problem.
✗ Do not apply paint over loose, peeling or powdery surfaces.
✗ Do not use dirty or contaminated water for dilution.
✗ Do not over-dilute the paint.
✗ Do not apply the next coat before the previous coat has adequately dried.
✗ Do not aggressively scrub the wall surface.
✗ Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners or rough materials on the painted surface.
✗ Do not ignore cracks, seepage or water leakage — these should be repaired before repainting.
